“Acknowledge Your Enemy But Keep Your Eyes on the Lord”

FOCUS

I’ve often heard people say, “God loves you & has a wonderful plan for your life.” While that’s true (although His definition of wonderful may not be yours), so is “Satan hates you & has a terrible plan for your life.” The enemy’s antagonism & attacks come with the territory of being a member of God’s forever family. Things get even more dicey for those who live a fully surrendered, obedient & faithful life.

Today’s message is an important reminder of just how real the battle is. As sure as God’s greatness & love are beyond our ability to fully comprehend them, the enemy’s wickedness & hatred are beyond our ability to fully articulate them.

Being Aware of Satan While Keeping Your

Eyes on Jesus Is Important because …

1. Satan is just as real as God / he is a present & constant threat.

We can’t acknowledge God’s existence without acknowledging the evil one’s

existence because God Himself is the One who tells us the evil one exists.

Exodus 14:5-9 John 10:10 1 Peter 5:8-9

2. if we don’t keep our eyes on Jesus we lose our perspective & peace.

At times we will need to glance at satan but we must always stay focused on Jesus.

Hebrews 12:1-2 (2 Corinthians 2:9-11 / 1 Thessalonians 2:18)

Making It Real

1] Are you as convinced as you’ve ever been that Satan is real & hates you?

2] How will you stay balanced in the tension of this truth?

Action Step

Spend some time pondering the parallels between Pharaoh & Satan.

Then spend some time praising God for His total victory over absolutely

every aspect of their desires, schemes, plans, attempts & attacks.
